What it covers

Union-wide template and channel for FIUs to report the results of their analyses to the EPPO where there are reasonable grounds to suspect offences against the EU's financial interests: nine sections with mandatory and discretionary fields, machine-readable (XML) submission over a secure electronic channel, and an indication of the permitted use of the information. Consulted through a public hearing on 27 May 2026; approved by the General Board on 30 June 2026; final report published on 3 July 2026 and submitted to the Commission. Applies from 10 July 2027, machine-readable reporting from 10 July 2028.

What it means in practice

No direct obligations for obliged entities: it governs the FIU's onward reporting. Reports that point to fraud against the EU budget, VAT carousels or misuse of EU funds may reach the EPPO faster, so expect follow-up questions from the FIU on such cases.
